Meet Mark Broadway

He’s been training with us since October 2023 and what a change we have seen!

He joined us because he wanted to drop some body fat, get leaner, fitter and change his lifestyle and fitness.

Coming from an already athletic background of Thai boxing he had the foundations but only ever really did cardio work.

He started with us on our group fitness training but very quickly transitioned into our Small Group Personal Training program where we prioritised his strength training. He has made some huge progress since then.

We have also been working on his nutrition.  We encouraged him to actually eat more calories but of the right type of nutritious food to fuel his extra training whilst prioritising extra protein and monitoring his calorie intake

What was your starting point and what motivated you to want to change?

Before I joined Diverse Fitness I played golf and occasionally I went for a short run. I used to be heavily into my Thai boxing once and missed the level of fitness I had then.

Can you outline what was your fitness schedule?

When I first joined the gym I was attending the group fitness classes to help get my cardiovascular fitness increased and burn a few pounds off. When the new Accelerate memberships were introduced I did the 30-day trial which was great value and for the first time I got to experience the benefits of strength training as part of the Small Group PT sessions. I was hooked!

Did you make changes to your nutrition? What are your top tips?

I added more protein and vegetables. No frozen foods just fresh natural food items and making sure I ate three nutritious meals a day.

What were some of the challenges you faced and how did you overcome them?

I still had cravings for sweet foods so I allow myself one cheat meal a week to help with that.

How long did it take you to see changes in your body and lifestyle?

After about 3-4 weeks I noticed weight loss and muscle building. I can’t believe after working out like crazy and eating less food that I wasn’t seeing the changes I thought I would but just 3 or 4 weeks of strength training and eating more of the right foods that I was getting the results I wanted.

What have been the highlights of your transformation?

Getting stronger, lifting heavier and feeling healthy.

How has your mindset changed?

I have definitely changed for the better. I find it easier to eat healthy and it’s not something I struggle with now because I know it will deliver the results I want.

How do you feel now?

Stronger, fitter, leaner and ready to hit my next set of progress targets!

What advice would you give to others starting their journey?

Just make the first step to come to the gym we are all friendly and happy to support you! Just keep going and the results will show!

Meet Tracy Brown

What was your starting point and what motivated you to want to change?

I started with Diverse Fitness in 2018 as I was pretty overweight and was struggling to get it off, and any weight I did lose went straight back on.  I was fed up with wearing clothes I didn’t like in order to hide my body and getting out of breath just walking up a hill.

Can you outline what was your fitness schedule?

I had tried a range of fitness classes; kettlercise, aerobic classes, going to the gym, swimming… but I didn’t stick to anything and struggled to stay motivated.

When I started with Diverse Fitness I began with 1 personal training session and 2 group fitness classes a week. On top of this I had to totally overhaul my diet.  I started tracking what I was eating and with support from coach Ross I was able to make better choices.  My top tip would be to track everything you eat, and I mean everything! It’s easy to think the odd biscuit or sweets won’t make a difference but the calories really do add up!!

What were some of the challenges you faced and how did you overcome them?

It was difficult at first to change my lifestyle to accommodate the food and training changes.  I was used to not really thinking about what I was going to eat and having to be more organised and plan a day rather than just a meal was a struggle.  I now train 5-6 times a week and it has become part of my routine.  Even though when it’s cold and raining it can really not feel an attractive thought to go out and get on with it, it always feels better when you have done it.

How long did it take you to see changes in your body and lifestyle?

I noticed changes to my body within the first couple of weeks.  I lost around a stone in 10 weeks. The weight loss did slow after this and it was important to keep to the routines and food tracking.  A treat every now and then and a rest day a week helps to keep me going. Also bumping into old friends and their surprise at my weight loss also helped to spur me on!

What have been the highlights of your transformation?

I would say a highlight has been to actually find a form of exercise I enjoy! I need variety so I don’t get bored or complacent and Diverse Fitness provides that. It’s also really good to meet new friends and train with like-minded people.

How has your mindset changed?

Regular training is part of my lifestyle and I really miss it if I can’t train for any reason.

What advice would you give to others starting their journey?

I would say to anyone considering starting with Diverse Fitness to just do it! It’s probably one of the best decisions I have ever made.

“I have been having PT sessions with Ross since January 2017. I initially thought I would do a 10 week course to lose weight. I achieved the initial targets Ross set but so pleased with my progress, I booked another 10 weeks and never looked back! Since then, I have been focusing on strength, fitness and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. I need the constant accountability to keep me on track and I also still get a buzz when I’ve reached new goals.

“Diverse Fitness is without doubt the best decision I have ever made for my health, fitness and general well-being.
